Department Spotlight: Laboratory
The Laboratory Department at Pointe Coupee General Hospital plays a major role in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. The Laboratory helps to improve patient care by providing safe onsite testing for a variety of discipline, including blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, microbiology, parasitology, serology, and urinalysis.
Under the leadership of Lab Manager, Liz Gosserand, M.T. (ASCP), and Assistant Lab Manager, Yvette Major-Garrett, M.T. (ASCP), our accreditations and team of laboratory professionals ensure our commitment to the rigorous laboratory standards for accuracy and reliability. Our laboratory professional team consists of Medical Technologists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Laboratory Assistants, and Phlebotomists.
Our laboratory is staffed 24/7 to meet the needs of the community. The Laboratory not only provides services to our outpatient population, including local nursing home and home health agencies. The Laboratory at Pointe Coupee General Hospital is CLIA certified and remains committed to providing our patients with the utmost standard of care.
