October is quickly approaching! Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women, so getting your yearly mammogram is of high priority. For those who may still not know, Pointe Coupee General Hospital has 3D mammography! We also have the smart curve paddle which aids in decreasing your discomfort from compression.

We are also selling breast cancer ribbons in the Radiology department for a minimum $1 donation. Your loved one’s name is placed on the ribbon and will be hung in the Radiology hallway throughout the entire month of October. All proceeds will go to the Janell Lacombe Fund. Friday, October 18, 2019, is National Mammography Day. We are celebrating by holding a “pink day” in order to raise money and awareness. All day, we will be wearing pink shirts, tops, and accessories. Our Radiology department will be accepting $2 or more donations to support breast cancer awareness. On October 19, 2012, the Pointe Coupee General Mammography Department had their annual Food and Drug Administration inspection. This inspection entails a review of the previous twelve month's Quality Control and Quality Assurance departmental data. Brandi Guidroz-Werchan, Lead Mammographer/QC Technologist, and Alana Moore Smith, Staff Mammographer/QA Technologist, perform testing and complete paperwork on a daily basis in preparation for this annual inspection.
