Pointe Coupee General Hospital Wound Care Clinic treats patients with non-healing wounds that require an advanced level of care. Wounds typically treated at the clinic include those that are especially difficult to heal, such as diabetic, venous, and pressure ulcers. Internal injuries will also be treated at the wound clinic, including the late effects of radiation, osteomyelitis, and crush injuries.

Medicaid Expansion in Louisiana

On January 12, 2016, Governor John Bel Edwards signed an executive order (JBE 16-01) to begin the process for expanding Medicaid in Louisiana no later than July 1, 2016. Expansion will make Medicaid available to the 300,000 to 450,000 adults living in Louisiana who do not currently qualify for full Medicaid coverage and cannot afford to buy private health insurance.

New State of the Art Medical Laboratory Now Open

Pointe Coupee General Hospital continues its efforts to improve quality of care for local health care consumers, most recently opening a brand new 6,000 ft² (560 m²) state of the art lab. PCGH Administrator Chad Olinde and Lab Manager Yvette Major Garrett announce that the new lab will provide 24 hour a day, 7 day a week lab services to meet the needs of the emergency room, as well as, patients admitted to the hospital.

The hospitals have provided healthcare to the under-served for approximately a century. For the last two decades, LSU has provided the oversight for these safety net hospitals.
