Nurses Complete Trauma Nurse Certification Course (TNCC)

For the past thirteen years, registered nurses at Pointe Coupee General Hospital have completed the Trauma Nurse Certification Course (TNCC). The Trauma Nurse Certification Course (TNCC) is designed to teach core level knowledge, refine skills, and build a firm foundation for the treatment of the severely injured patient. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), trauma is the sixth leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 10% of all mortalities.

The TNCC is an intensive 16 hour course which includes a lecture and hands-on skills stations. In addition to the actual classroom time, the nurse must prepare for the class in advance through study and review. The certification is valid for four years. Successful completion of the TNCC course includes passing a multiple-choice examination and demonstrating competency in the various skill stations.

Pointe Coupee General Hospital is proud of the nursing department for its dedication and diligence in keeping up with the current standards of care.
