Carl E. McLemore, MD
Family Practitioner
Dr. Carl McLemore specializes in Family Practice, providing care to infants, adolescents and adults of all ages. Dr. McLemore is certified by the American Board of Family Practice, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and is a Kid Med provider. He has served as a preceptor to medical students in association with the LSU School of Medicine and has taught Family Practice residents. Dr. McLemore currently serves as Chairman of the Health Service District Board № 1.
Dr. McLemore is a graduate of Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport where he was a member of the AOA Honor Society. He completed his residency in Family Practice in 1978 and established his practice in New Roads that same year.
On the personal side, Dr. McLemore was born in Alexandria, Louisiana. His mother was the former Ella Crochet from Morganza, LA. According to Dr. McLemore, the family moved around due to his father's occupation but the family always maintained a residence in Morganza, considering this area their permanent home. Dr. McLemore met his wife, Karen née McGarrahan, while attending LSU. They are the parents of three sons, Andy, Aaron and Bobby. The McLemores' enjoy their four grandchildren Mary Ella and Amelia, children of Andy and Carrie and twins, Molly and Jack, children of Aaron and Elizabeth.
Despite his hectic work schedule, Dr. McLemore does try to get away to enjoy salt-water fishing with his sons and brother. He also enjoys the full gamut of LSU sports frequently attending baseball, football, and basketball games. He attends St. Mary's of False River Catholic Church and participates in the Manresa retreats.
Given his clinical expertise, it is evident that Dr. McLemore stays abreast of current medical advances by attending conferences and meetings. He has been and is a well-respected member of our medical community in Pointe Coupee. In talking to Dr. McLemore it is easy to recognize his wonderful, overall, caring demeanor. According to Dr. McLemore, he has felt blessed with the opportunity to serve the people of Pointe Coupee Parish.
